Exposed Aggregate Concrete In Bendigo — Prepped, Poured And Sealed By One Team

Exposed aggregate concrete in Bendigo turns a plain slab into a premium, low-maintenance finish. Leigh Whyte Concreting handles the site cut, the pour, the wash-back and the seal as one job — one local operator, his own machines, and a driveway or alfresco that looks the part and lasts.

What's Involved

What A Premium Exposed Aggregate Concrete Finish Involves

Exposed aggregate is decorative concrete with the top layer of paste washed back to reveal the stone underneath — the texture you can see and feel. It looks the part, but it only lasts if the slab beneath it is built right. Leigh spent 11 years on precision formwork before running his own business, so the part you can’t see gets done first.

Site Cut & A Compacted Base

Excavation, levels and a properly compacted base set with our own Bobcat and excavator — no soft spots left to crack the finish later.

Falls & Drainage Done Properly

Surface falls set so water runs away from the house and the slab, not back under your new driveway or alfresco.

Reinforcement & The Right Mix

Mesh to spec and the correct MPa concrete, matched to a decorative surface that carries cars or foot traffic day in, day out.

The Decorative Stone, Placed Evenly

Your chosen aggregate poured through the mix and worked across the whole surface, ready to be exposed in an even, consistent finish.

Wash-back, Clean & Seal

We time the wash-back to bring the stone up evenly, clean it down, then seal it to protect the colour and keep it easy to look after.

Why Choose Leigh

Why Bendigo Homeowners Choose Leigh For Exposed Aggregate

Plenty of concreters will lay a decorative surface. Far fewer will dig it out, fix the base and set the falls themselves — then finish and seal it properly, and stand behind the lot. Here’s what’s actually different.

1

One Operator, Earthworks to Finish

We own the plant and do the site cut, falls, pour, wash-back and seal as one accountable job — so there’s no earthworks contractor to coordinate and no one to chase.

2

A Finish That Comes Up Evenly

Exposed aggregate lives or dies on the wash-back being timed right across the whole slab. Twenty-three years means the stone comes up consistent, not patchy in places.

3

Built To Last, Not Just Look Good On Day One

Get the base, reinforcement and falls right and a decorative surface carries traffic for decades without cracking up. That’s where the experience earns its keep.

4

Plain English And A Straight Price

A local operator who talks you through the stone options, sealing and upkeep without the jargon dump — then comes out, looks at the job and gives you one written quote.

Colours & Finishes

Exposed Aggregate Colours, Stone Mixes And Sealing

The look comes from the stone. Exposed aggregate colours run from charcoal and granite through to honey, gold and softer river-pebble tones — so the finish can be matched to the house, the roof or the existing paving. We’ll talk you through the mixes and help you pick one that suits, not just whatever’s easiest to pour.

Sealing is what keeps it looking good. A proper seal protects the colour, helps the surface shrug off oil and marks, and makes cleaning easier. It does need redoing every few years, and we’ll tell you straight how to look after it — no surprises down the track.

Frequently Asked Questions

Exposed Aggregate Questions We Get Asked Most

If your question isn’t here, send it through and we’ll answer it on the phone.

What Is Exposed Aggregate Concrete?

Exposed aggregate concrete is decorative concrete where the top layer of cement paste is washed back to reveal the stone underneath. That gives you a textured, non-slip, premium finish — the same strong slab as plain concrete, just with a far better look.

Is Exposed Aggregate Good For A Driveway?

It’s one of the most popular driveway finishes for a reason: it’s hard-wearing, the texture grips underfoot and under tyres, and it hides the odd mark better than smooth concrete. As with any driveway, it only lasts if the base, falls and reinforcement underneath are done right — which is the part we handle ourselves.

What Colours And Finishes Can I Get?

Plenty. The colour comes from the stone mix, so you can go anywhere from charcoal and granite to honey, gold and lighter river-pebble tones. We’ll help you match it to the house and the surrounds rather than guessing — bring a photo of the roof or paving and we’ll work from that.

Does It Need Sealing Or Much Maintenance?

A seal is worth it — it protects the colour, helps resist oil and marks, and makes the surface easier to clean. The seal needs redoing every few years, but day to day it’s low-maintenance. We’ll explain the upkeep in plain English so there are no surprises.

How Much Does An Exposed Aggregate Driveway Cost In Bendigo?

It depends on the size, the site, how much earthworks is involved and the stone you choose, so we don’t quote a per-metre price sight unseen. The honest way to get a real number is a free site inspection — we come out, look at the job and give you a straight written quote.

Do I Need A Permit For A New Driveway?

If your new driveway meets the council road, you’ll usually need a vehicle crossing (crossover) permit. We work to your approved plans and can point you in the right direction — if you’re unsure, start with the City of Greater Bendigo or your local council.
