BENDIGO | CENTRAL VICTORIA | 23 YEARS ON THE TOOLS

Concreter in Bendigo — One team. One quote. Earthworks to finished concrete, done in-house.

Leigh Whyte Concreting is a Bendigo-based team specialising in shed slabs, driveways and exposed aggregate — from the first site cut to the final pour. Twenty-three years on the tools, our own bobcat, excavator and tipper truck on site, and one person to call from start to finish.

THE SERVICES WE SPECIALISE IN

Three things we do better than anyone else in the Bendigo region

Because we own the earthworks plant, read the engineering plans, and run the whole job ourselves.

WHO WE ARE

Bendigo's concreter — on the tools for 23 years

Leigh Whyte Concreting is a local Bendigo team led by Leigh Whyte — twenty-three years in the trade, twelve of them running this business out of the Bendigo region. We started on commercial formwork and multi-storey site cuts, and brought that level of site-prep discipline back to residential concreting.

Today, Leigh and his team handle the lot in-house: site inspection, earthworks with our own bobcat, excavator and tipper truck, footings to engineering spec, the pour, and the finish. The shed builder, the pool builder or the home builder turns up to a job that’s already right.

We’re a Bendigo team, working in Bendigo suburbs, for Bendigo homeowners and the local trades who refer us back. We sponsor the Huntly Football & Netball Club. We’re not the cheapest quote in town — we’re the one that’s still standing twenty years later.

WHY CHOOSE US

Why Bendigo homeowners and builders choose us

Bendigo adverstiser are full of “free instant quotes” and “high-quality work”. Here’s what’s actually different about us.

01

One team for site prep AND concrete

We own and operate the bobcat, excavator and tipper truck. The earthworks contractor and the concreter are the same team — so the levels, falls and footings are right before a single bag of stone is laid down.

02

Trusted by the local trades

Best Sheds, Fair Dinkum Builds, Safety Steel, Rotondo Homes and Cavalier Homes refer us because their build slot depends on the slab being right. Repeat work is the only marketing we've ever needed.

03

Quote-on-inspection — not "instant online price"

Most concreters will quote you per square metre over the phone. We won't. We come out, walk the block, read your engineering plans, and quote the full job in writing — site prep, slab, finish, edges, the lot.

04

Local. Always has been.

We live here, we work here, and we sponsor the Huntly Football & Netball Club. We can name the suburbs we've poured in this month — Strathfieldsaye, Junortoun, Huntly, Maiden Gully, Kangaroo Flat — because we were actually there.

“One team. One quote. Earthworks to finished concrete — done in-house across the Bendigo region.”

SITE PREP + SHED SLAB

Leigh did the site cut and the slab for our new shed.
The shed builder turned up, took one look at the slab and got straight on with
it — no dramas, no extras. Best decision we made was getting one bloke to do the lot.

EXPOSED AGGREGRATE DRIVEWAY

We'd been let down on a driveway quote twice before we found Leigh. He came out, walked us through the colour and stone options, gave us one written price and stuck to it. The finish has had every neighbour over for a look.

REPEAT CUSTOMER

Got Leigh in for the shed slab two years ago, called him back this year for the driveway.

Turns up when he says he will, finishes the job properly, and we don't have to chase anyone. That's why we keep ringing him.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The questions Bendigo homeowners and shed buyers ask most often

If your question isn’t here, send it through and we’ll answer it on the phone.

Can you provide site preparation as well as the concrete?

Yes — and it’s the reason most of our customers come to us. We own and operate our own bobcat, excavator and tipper truck. The site cut, the footings, the formwork and the slab are all handled by the same team, in the right sequence. You get one quote, one point of contact, and no two contractors arguing about whose fault the levels are..

How much does a shed slab cost in Bendigo?

It depends on the size of the shed, the engineering spec, the access to the site and how much site prep is involved. We don’t publish a per-square-metre rate because two slabs of the same size can have very different costs once you factor in the cut, the footings and the access. We quote on inspection, in writing, with the scope itemised — so you can compare like for like. For a sense of typical price ranges, read our Shed Slab Cost Guide (Bendigo Edition).

How thick should a shed slab be, and what MPa concrete do you use?

For most kit sheds in the Bendigo region, the slab thickness and MPa are specified in the engineering plans your shed company supplies. We read those plans before we quote. If you don’t have plans yet, we can talk you through what the typical specs look like for a single, double or triple-bay shed — read our guide on How Thick Should Your Shed Slab Be? and What MPa Concrete Should You Use for a Shed Slab?

Do you work with the local shed builders and pool builders?

Yes. We’re trusted by Best Sheds, Fair Dinkum Builds and Safety Steel for shed slabs, and we work alongside Rotondo Homes and Cavalier Homes on driveways, alfrescos and exposed aggregate work. Send us the contact details for your shed company, pool builder or landscaper and we’ll sequence around their dates.

How long does concrete take to cure before I can use the slab or driveway?

Standard residential concrete is walk-on after about 24 hours, light vehicle traffic after 7 days, and full cure at around 28 days. We’ll tell you exactly what your job needs at the site inspection. If you’ve got a shed delivery booked, factor in the cure time — the kit can’t be erected on green concrete.

Where do you source your concrete from?

From local Bendigo-region concrete suppliers we’ve worked with for years. We pick the supplier and mix based on what your job needs — strength class, slump, finish — not based on whoever’s cheapest that week.

What's your booking lead time?

It changes through the year. Spring and summer are the busiest periods, especially for shed slabs ahead of the December delivery window, and exposed-aggregate driveways. The earlier you book the site inspection, the easier it is to hold a slot. Please enquire for current booking lead times.
